  • Completed full modernizations of:
    • Lafayette Elementary School
    • MacFarland Bilingual Middle School
    • Roosevelt High School
  • Secured funding for full modernizations of:
    • Coolidge Middle & High School
    • West Education Campus
  • Added to the modernization schedule/Capital Improvement Plan:
    • West Education Campus (secured $78 million in funding)
    • Dorothy Height Elementary School (added $32 million for total of $67 million in funding)
    • Raymond Education Campus
    • Truesdell Education Campus (secured $2.6 million in funding)
    • Whittier Education Campus
    • LaSalle-Backus Education Campus
  • Opened DC International School, the first activated building on the Walter Reed Campus.
  • Visited every Ward 4 school to assess needs and discuss progress with students, teachers, and administrators.
  • Hosted a listening session with the Ward 4 Education Alliance to receive input on the selection of the next DCPS Chancellor and Deputy Mayor for Education.
  • Greet families to welcome them back to school every year.
  • Attend school graduations and present at career fairs.

Recreation

  • Completed a new early childhood education playground at Dorothy I. Height Elementary School.
  • Completed the Petworth Meditation Garden at 13th Street & Kansas Avenue, NW – the first of its kind in the District.
  • Completed a soccer mini pitch at Petworth Recreation Center.
  • Secured $2 million for a new playground, basketball court, and spray park at the Petworth Recreation Center.
  • Secured $1.2 million for a modernization of Upshur Recreation Center in FY 2023.
  • Secured $12 million for a new Shepherd Elementary School multi-use recreation center.
  • Secured funding to begin planning construction of a public pool at Walter Reed.
  • Secured $4.5 million in funding for a new Lafayette Recreation Center and Field House.
  • Installed a Little Library at Upshur Park.
